What’s Worse?

What’s worse: finding out your flight is delayed from the comfort of your own home, or getting to the airport for an On Time flight, boarding the airplane, being asked to leave the plane because the Captain hasn’t made it in yet, and sticking around the gate for about three hours?

I’m going to site with the latter.

“I’m going to site with the latter.”

Might you also *side* with the latter?

And, boy, that all really sucks. I hope you gave the Captain a punch in the schnozz.

Yep, “site with the latter”. It’s the new “gool”.

I remember when I was working in Athens, Greece. I managed to conn my boss into a four-day weekend to head down and see a significant other in Iraklion, Crete.

Olympic Airways, as well as pretty much anything else in Greece, was notorious for going on strike for any reason whatsoever.

I watched the signs click from Delayed to Canceled on most flights from the pseudo comfort of the terminal. However, being a dumb sailor, I was more interested in making my rendezvous. I *did* find a flight that left and was on it. That was probably one the *S-T-U-P-I-D-E-S-T* things I could have ever done! I spent the remainder of my time in Crete trying to get BACK to Athens.

(Well yeah, I DID get to see her)

Ciao,

For my bad flight story, I refer you to “Inside American Airlines” which has re-run on CNBC almost every day for the past 4 or 5 months. There is a 10 second clip of me on that program, because I was on that horrible flight from Dallas to Portland featured on the show. As bad as that flight was, for me the nightmare got worse when we landed. Since the flight landed in Portland 5 or 6 hours late (at like 2 or 3 in the morning), by the time I arrived at my hotel in Hillsboro it was closed up and I couldn’t check in. I had to call the emergency travel agent and there was exactly one room available in the Portland metro area because there was a golf tournament in town. I had to drive all the way back to the airport (~25 miles) where the room was – and then had to be back to Hillsboro for a meeting by 8 the next morning, on like 2 hours of sleep. Truly horrible.

Hey, that’s pretty bad Terry.

A funny thing: when I landed on the above-mentioned flight I noticed a camera crew talking with a fellow passenger about it! Too bad – if I had been standing just about 20 feet to my left I might have been on the local news.

“So how was that flight?”

“I’ll tell you my site of the story…”

What is this then?
