Did you know that Steve Martin wrote a children’s book? It’s titled The Alphabet from A to Y With Bonus Letter Z! and is a funny, nonsequiter look at the letters that make up our world. I picked up a copy at a used book store recently and was surprised at how amused I was by the book itself. I mean, any book that references borscht in a bottle, the Golden Girls, veganism, zombies, and beatniks carrying balloons automatically gets the thumbs up from me. To top it off, Roz Chast’s illustrations are just wonderful and will provide adults a lot of humorous eye candy while reading to their children (or, like me, while in the bathroom).
After The Pink Panther remake, it seemed like maybe Martin had lost some of his comedic wit, but this book should dispell any of those notions.
