Oogie DirecTV ad

Those DirecTV commercials where they take an old movie, reshoot part of it, and throw in new dialogue promoting DirecTV have been generally quite good. But I’ve gotta admit to being a little ooged out by the one that uses footage from Poltergeist. Making use of a dead actor is one thing, but when that dead actor is a child that died of septic shock at only 12-years-old. Anyone else feel uncomfortable with this commercial? I know I’m not the only one.

Overall, it’s just a stupid commercial!

If the O’Rourke family isn’t getting a HUGE paycheck (which I doubt they are), then Direct TV officially sealed the fact that I’m never getting Direct TV in my house.

Heather O’Rouke’s mother apparently approved of the ad, but I don’t know the details of any agreements about money. I still contend this idea should never have even been proposed in the first place.

What is this then?
