Was "Oregon Trail" the one where you're a settler trying to make it cross-country in a covered wagon, and you get to shoot deer and buy supplies at the general store, etc etc? What about that "Lemonade Stand" game? Does anyone remember that one? "1 lb of sugar, how many lemons....to make thismuch lemondade to sell at this price so you can still buy your supplies but make a profit....." I loved that one!

Didn't the kid version of Tom Hanks in Big play a fantasy game just like this one? That kind of reminds me that I saw a Kids in the Hall rerun yesterday with a Zork t-shirt in it.

Was I the only kid who never played Oregon Trail? In 6th grade we played Where in the World is Carmen San Diego a lot but that was it.

"Where in the World is Carmen S" is a great game, too, but I didn't see that one until I got to high school (back in the dinosaur ages...the very late 80's) and by then it was all teched-up and packed with cutesie graphics.

Robert- I also played Carmen Sandiego, but in school we played Oregon Trail more.

This topic reminds me to ask if any of you out there in the Daily Ping-dom have played the DVD re-releases of Dragon's Lair and Space Ace. I am so hard up to have those games where I can get to them at any time and DVD seems like the best format. Someone somewhere said that you need a fast machine to make it work and I don't know how one might figure out if his machine is fast enough.

Anyone who wants to take issue with my bad taste in video games can sod the hell off right now!

I cant BELIEVE that in this whole Ping, no one except for Ryan has played Transylvania..werewolves, vampires, so many ways to die or get freaked out. I was addicted to this game SO much when I was little.

I think it was one occasion where running a game of the old 5 1/4 disk was OK, because the extra load time just added to the suspense.

Well, Lemonade Tycoon is not so hot. You get the first 60 minutes of play for free, but the full version which allows you to continue the game is $20. Gosh, isn't anything FREE FREE FREE anymore???? (insert snort of derision here!)

Transyvania was the first PC game I ever played. I used to have an 84 Mac. I beat my brothers at finding the solution. You have to use the Ring and Cloak to free the alien from the statue. He gives you a black box with a button. Go to the sarcophagus in the tower and press the button. Then give the princess the Elixir and head for the Sailboat.

Oh my gosh, it makes me so sad to think about Transylvania. My dad and I used to spend HOURS playing that game when I was like 7 years old. That damn werewolf is right!! I need to play it again so if anyone knows where I can play it, post something!
