Shock The Monkey

I’m almost ashamed to admit this, but last year I fell very much into the treeloot trap.

By now I’m sure you’ve seen their banner ads on the web (assuming you have banner ads enabled) – Shock the Monkey and Win $20! they proclaim. It used to be almost a challenge to do so, but it isn’t now; the $20 also has a nice fat asterisk by it warning you that, surprisingly, stipulations apply.

But treeloot pulled me in. They give you a big picture of a tree, with a grid overlay. Allegedly, you click a square in the grid and win or lose – but, naturally, you’re given hints (and ads!) along the way. It must’ve been a lonely ol’ night because I distinctly remember clicking every single square in that grid. What did I win? What do you think?

I was wondering if anyone else got seduced by this monkey. -pm

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
