Find a Hike

A gorgeous weekend is approaching and you’re looking for a good place to go for a hike. Where do you turn?

Might I suggest LocalHikes.com? Organized by metro areas, LocalHikes lets visitors submit reviews, pictures, directions, etc. to various hiking trails and locations. There’s a pretty decent selection at the site (the Washington-Baltimore area had 58 hikes listed) ranging from easy, paved trails to strenuous trails that have “rock scrambles.” I found a number of good suggestions, including a trail I’ve hiked a few times before (and where I ended up again this weekend). The site’s not overrun with ads, so it’s pretty easy to find what you want without the fluff.

Similar sites worth exploring: TheBackPacker.com’s trail reviews and the Sierra Club’s “outings” section.

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
