Clocky

Clocky (presumably short for “Clocky McClockerson”), is clearly one of the best inventions in recent memory. A creation of an MIT student, Clocky is an alarm clock that when you hit snooze, it hides itself, forcing you to get out of bed and find it to turn it off the next time it goes off. It solves the problem that the alarm-clock-across-the-room trick doesn’t: it makes you get out of bed and wake up enough to find it rather than stomping like a zombie to the same place, only to return back to bed. If you’ve ever snoozed too many times or turned off your alarm without knowing it, Clocky is the answer for you. Plus, it looks like a candy bar.

Clocky isn’t commercially available yet, but may be as soon as next year.

A video of it in action would be nice.

Imagine clocky the fridge. Every time you go to the fridge for a snack - its gone and moved somewhere else in your house. This would also bring a whole level of irony to the classic prank call, Is you refrigerator running...

Clocky the Fridge! Brilliant, Chris!

I'm having visions of a gigantic fridge creeping around the house, pretending it was small, trying to hide behind a bookcase half its height...

Sooo...instead of stomping like a zombie across the room before I turn it off and go back to bed, I hunt down a shag-covered clock, smash it...and reutrn to bed.

I'll pass.

Brown and fuzzy clock? I'll have quite a bit of explaining to do after I 've smashed the cat.

Can I sue the makers after I trip over it and crash to the floor?

What if it sent an electrical shock into your body instead of buzzing and yea had to find it to stop the shocking, i would not go back to sleep after that.

Didn't Encyclopedia Brown invent an alarm clock that tightened a string around your toe or something? I have a vague memory of a book from my childhood...

Great. I'd wake up with one less toe every morning. Of course, that'd be one less thing to stub...

I wonder how Clocky would like the jump from my loft. And I wonder if I could fall back asleep or if I'd be too curious as to where the clock was running off to.
