Good Coffee Shops

As I learned on a recent trip, sometimes it can be really hard to find good coffee. (I’m not resigned to complaining much, but the best coffee I had was at McDonald’s. Oops.)

So I’m curious, as I usually am, where Pingers get good coffee. Where do you go in your neck of the woods? I’m thinking out-of-the-home go-buy-some-to-drink-now coffee, not make-it-at-home-from-beans coffee.

I can recommend the Unicorn Café as well as Café Ambrosia in Evanston, IL.

For a chain, Caribou Coffee is pretty good. I haven't been impressed with independent shops around here. Dunkin Donuts coffee is good too. The WaWa chain of gas stations has started brewing a Kenya AA bean, which is very good.

I can't find any shop that sells Kopi Luwak, unfortunately.

I'm perplexed that places exist solely for the consumption of coffee. I guess the same can be said for alcohol, but at least that sometimes leads to getting laid.

What is this then?
