Micheal

While it’s been established that “opps!” is perhaps the king of misspelled words, I’d like to nominate a prince: Micheal.

I was reading a thread about The Office at Television Without Pity, and more than one commenter spelled Michael as “Micheal”. Multiple times. In one post.

It just bugs me, you know? A little like mixing up Brian and Brain, but worse.

As someone who’s been referred to as “Ryan MacMicheal” way too many times, I can say this is my #1 most hated spelling mistake. Everytime I read it, I read it as “Mike-eel” which drives me nuts.

I am Joan, as some of you know, and I despise being called Joanne.

I also don’t like the different ways to spell Rachel. Rachael just seems wrong.

Depending on the age of whom I am speaking to, I clarify my name by saying “like Joan Jett” or “Joan Rivers.”

jk — I wrote an entry about reasons to hate Rachael Ray and one of them was the spelling of her name: http://www.vegblog.org/archive/2007/06/26/4-reasons-i-hate-rachael-ray/

Darn, I wish my name gpt all that attention.

Ciao,
Xkh8sjj, but as (I think) George Carlin said, “They’re silent.”

What is this then?
