Phantom Vibration Syndrome

On more than one occasion I’ve thought my phone was vibrating and yet… it wasn’t. As it turns out, there’s a name for this: Phantom Vibration Syndrome. There’s the similar concept of thinking that one hears one’s phone.

It’s an odd feeling. My phone is usually in my right front pants pocket and thus, that’s where I feel the vibration. Sometimes I’m right, sometimes I’m not.

This syndrome is definitely something that didn’t exist 10 or so years ago. But it also wouldn’t exist if I used, say, the Samsung Galaxy Note… if only because that thing won’t fit in a pocket, ever. Unless you’re wearing Hammer pants. With cargo pockets.
