Meredith pointed out something really cool that Gamespot is doing, something really out of place for a big ol’ company like that. She was on their e-mail list and got this note from them:

We have noticed that it’s been a while since you last clicked within a GameSpot newsletter, and we want to make sure you’d like to continue receiving your subscription. We know that unwanted e-mail can be a real headache, so if you want to continue to receive your GameSpot newsletters, please click the link below. No other action or forms are necessary: simply by clicking, you will let us know that you would like to remain a subscriber. Otherwise, we’ll unsubscribe you and help keep the clutter out of your in-box. You will always be able to resubscribe by visiting us again.

I mean, seriously — that is great. Sure, not everyone might want to be unsubscribed automatically, but the very fact that a company is willing to trim their number of subscribers just to potentially stop annoying them is wonderful.

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
