Sweet Simplicity

I used to be quite the infomercial junkie — so much so, that at one point I taped one infomerical that was just beyond outstanding: it was classic.

Before Nads and before Igia, there was Sweet Simplicity. This great hair removal product for women not only removed hair and reduced it over time, it was also edible!

During this half-hour infomerical, a group of women in their late 30s got together for a slumber-party type deal, but instead of a naked pillow fight, they all donned their silk robes and discussed their personal hair removal problem areas. And, of course, they all tried a taste of the “Bruleé” (presumably before anyone started to use it to remove their hair).

And even though Sweet Simplicity lost a head-to-head battle in the ever-important permanent-body-hair-removal.com comparison, I can betcha that Ultra Hair Away never had such a sweet, sweet infomercial. -ram

Man this evokes memories of my dad cutting my hair with the Flowbee(TM).

Ryan, I can't believe you are *still* obsessed with this product...and that you have taken this long to write a Ping about it. (How long have you kept this one in your back pocket for a day when you have writer's block??)

Do you actually *have* any of this stuff?

Dave -- I know... I had to check the archive because I thought for sure I would have already written about this! :)

One time Huyen and I spotted some in Wal-Mart for half price, so we picked some up as a show of support for those women who sacrificed their reputation to appear on a commercial talking about hair removal. I haven't tasted it, though. :)

You call merely buying a product support?? No way. Get that stuff out and wax your arms. We wanna see pictures. And I'm being easy--arms don't really hurt.

Women are weird.

The ants that invaded my bathroom really enjoyed the Nads, so maybe it is edible as well. I saw a new commercial last weekend for an new Igia hair removal product, EPIL-STOP. It is a spray on/wipe off hair removal product, and I can't help it I'm intrigued. I'll have to watch for it, half priced at Walmart.

I bet this is the kind of stuff Prince uses to get that razor-sharp facial hair he is famous for.

Barbara -- I've seen that ad, too (which is what reminded me of the Sweet Simplicity ad). The frightening part of that ad is when they have the man "wipe away" his chest hair. Ick.

The chest hair demo was disgusting. I'm still haunted by images of it.

ooh i have to admit, this is a product i used for years and years – the absolutely best at-home hair removal system out there. so sad when i could no longer get it :~( . . . now I have to be tortured at the salon getting waxed. However, that being said, I NEVER tasted it!! couldn’t have been too bad, the ingredients were just sugar, water, citric acid, and some kind of gum.

I’ve been using Sweet Simplicity since the summer of 1996. I’ve been using my tub jar, believe it or not every 6-8 weeks on just my upper lip. I still have a tad left after ALL these years! Mind you, I only used a little at a time. That’s why it’s LASTED so long. Last year when the tub started to get about 1/16 down to almost the bottom of the tub, I decided looking for it and to my disappointment I can’t find ANYONE carrying it…. yet! Wondering if there is ANYTHING close to it out there in the WORLD….. SOMEWHERE! I particularly LOVED the fact that there were NO toxic chemicals- basically natural ingredients and gentle on the skin. It REALLY did do the job and left my skin smooth. It was one of the most wonderful products of hair removal EVER! Hoping, trusting SOMEONE invents something close to it or better!

What is this then?
