Cloning

Now that Clonaid (though not the scary Brigitte Boisselier) is being called into court, this issue of the cloned child just won’t go away. So: what are your thoughts? Did the Raelins and Clonaid manage to clone a human? If they did, why is it such a big deal for them, since supposedly, we’re all cloned by aliens? And what are the moral and ethical implications of entire cloned humans?

I highly doubt that Clonaid was able to pull this off. Since its inception, this company has been the laughing stock of the scientific community. I think they were looking for some free press and they got it. Most professional scientists are not going to get into human cloning until the ethical issues are solved. Let's hope they take this one very, very slow.

Wasn't cloning the part of the scenerio of "Multiplicity" with Michael Keaton?

I don't think they've cloned anybody yet. I also have faith that full person cloning won't work. I expect that when somebody does pull it off the clones will have very serious issues, genetic defomaties, short life spans, superhuman powers, whatever. The side effects will negage the desire to do it, I hope. I think this is a case where mother nature will win.

Doesn't "clonaid" sound like either a drink made from powder or a musical collaboration? "We are the clones, we're not quite human..." Can you hear it?

I don't think people should screw around with God's natural way of making people!

I dont think so.. but does anyone here think that Rael got his outfit from Universal Studios, after the production of Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey? And have the same barber as George Carlin? BTW.. if the UFO's do show up.. tell the ET's Elvis owes me $500 since 1978!

What is this then?
