The Daily Ping

There were rumors of a Ping book, but those were started on the internet.

Favorite Street Name

There is a street not far from where I live, and I think it has the absolute best name I’ve ever heard for a street.

Now, I do like the way this street sounds – it’s a pleasant tone – but moreso I like the fact that every time I mention it, or see it, or hear it, I think of this guy. I always feel like somebody’s watching me….

By far, it’s my favorite street name. You got a good one?

Good call on Rockwell, Paul..

I dunno if I really have a favourite, but I always love looking for the odd street names..they make me laugh for some reason, especially if I get to report on the air about an accident there.

My favourite funny one so far in Delaware: Pecksniff Road.

Favourite altogether: Skyline Drive. Just very classy sounding.

I know people that moved to Easy Street. No lie.

In Georgia, I used to pass Jot 'Em Down Drive. I always liked that one.

I grew up on Hood street. The streets in my neighborhood were named after Civil War generals or people, hence the name. But it's not the most obvious connection people made when I used to say the name.

Hands down: Zupan. I had a friend who used to call it "Zupeh" with this weird little twang at the end, simply to be silly. Of course whenever I drive by it now I have to say "Zupeh".

OK I have to mention these, too...

In Sacramento there's a business area of mostly computer companies. All the streets have named like Hard Drive and Data Drive. I like those.

Since Greg brought up themed drives, I think it's necessary to mention Chocolate Avenue in Hershey, PA. Not only a great name, but you can smell the chocolate factory. It's so hypnotizing, I nearly got in an accident the last time I drove by. The melting chocolate smell is too good...

My friends and I drove to a conference in Des Moines a few years ago, and passed a Dingleberry Road on the way.
I don't have a favorite, but I think Pinckney St sounds cool.

Backlick Road in Springfield/Annandale, VA. The intersection with Braddock Road is Bradlick. Hmmm. . .

Here in San Francisco there is a Friendship Court. At the terminus is a street sign that reads "End Friendship". In the local city paper it was voted as best place to break up with someone.

Grand Master Joan. Oh wait, not MY street name? Sorry. I like Daisy Lane, and I have seen Lois Lane. Seriously. This couple sold acres of farmland to a developer, and named one of the streets after the wife.

I love La Jolla Shores Blvd.

I like Park Drive. It just makes no sense.

Swing Swang Lane. It's in Basingstoke in the UK. Seriously, look it up on Google.
Apparently it used to be pretty bendy, but they have straightened it in recent years.

I think my all time favorite has to be Back Road, located in Southern Wisconsin. (This may have appeared on the Ping before, but I can't remember.)

There's a Diane Court in Ohio. I like to stand across the street from it with my boombox, blasting "In Your Eyes".

Ha ha, good one MollyCule.

I also like Starr King Way here in SF. It's got a good ring to it.
