The Mars Rovers

Please, please tell me I’m not the only one in complete awe of the Mars rovers.

I know that they’re not as awe-inspiring as, say, the 1969 Moon landing to some, but I still think it’s pretty remarkable that tens of millions of miles away, we’ve got two working machines discovering new things. The idea that there might have been water on Mars, which may have supported life, is nothing short of amazing. That opens up tons of new questions.

I’m not so sure we need to start throwing money at NASA again, but this stuff is really fascinating to me.

I agree, it blows my mind whenever I see the photos and data coming back from Mars. Of course, the next big event is, eventually, going to have to be a manned flight to Mars. I'm in agreement that I don't think we need to toss billions at NASA right now, but I wouldn't cut anything, either. It's too damned intriguing.

I think we have a probe that will orbit the Saturn moon Titan some time next year. That could way cool too.

I hope they find water. If they found water it would tell us that there could have been some worthless organisms there millions of years ago. Then all that money will be well spent. Nerds!!!

I get totally geeked for the Rover images (yes, I subscribe to an RSS feed about it)... we're at the very cusp of an exciting time where scientists will be able to learn so much that just wasn't even conceivable before... I really hope this rejuvenates interest in space exploration.

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
