So Proud

My mom sent along some news from home:

Kids Allegedly Spike Student’s Soup With Drugs

This took place at the middle school I attended. I’m so proud!

Have you ever had any particuarly scandalous news come from your hometown or school?

One of Jr High science teachers got busted for being a little too friendly with a female student.

None of us were surprised.

I went to a Catholic high school where brothers (male clergy counterpart to nuns--sisters) taught. The year before I started there, while my older brothers (my siblings) were attending, one of the brothers, was a bit too friendly with some of the boys he had been counseling. The worst part, he'd been counseling them because they had already been homosexually assaulted. To add to the victimization, he took photos. Thanks, Brother Botticelli (Brother "Botti," for short--later, after the new broke, a.k.a. "Brother Body" and "Brother Student Body").

He was gone by the time I started there, which was a relief. But the dark cloud overhung the school for quite a while. This was twenty years ago now. Apparently, my Catholic school was ahead of its time.

Just in case the above was not clear: my brothers (siblings) had nothing to do with the above scandal. The cloaked brother involved was a member of the clergy, and not my relative.

I mentioned that my brothers (siblings) also went to school there just because the bad press affected them badly, as it did any student who attended. I remember my older brother staring at the TV in disbelief when the story was being broadcast on the evening news. At the high school sports events, the opposing teams would cat call and make fun of the school. Attendance at sporting events dropped a bit. It was bad for a while. Kids were embarassed to say they went to my school.

No real scandals from my hometown or the school I went to. But the school my little brother works at had a nice scandal where one of the teachers there just happened to be caught in a child sex sting (they were looking to catch someone else at the time). When he showed up to meet the "young girl", they found him with a video camera and some rope.

Meow.

The city school in my crime ridden city has added a courtroom to the school so students dont miss class, it is really bad, well thank god i live in the nice suburbs, but last year this kid got expelled foir bringing a gun to a football game. Funny thing is that kid wanted to kill me the year before cause he liked my girlfriend, thank god he is gone.
