Shopping Tip

Here’s a Lifehacker-type tip I thought I’d share.

When we’re going food shopping, instead of wasting a piece of new paper to write down our shopping list, we’ll write it on the back of a junk-mail envelope. The added bonus of using a junk mail envelope is that we can store any coupons we’re using inside it, so it serves double duty. It makes use of the usually-wasteful junk mail and allows us to save that blank piece of paper for drawing sketches of our favorite cartoon characters.

I was going to call you Heloise for this Ping, but you stole my thunder when you introduced this very topic in a reply back on May 10, 2004. Does this technically count as a DDP (Dreaded Double Ping)? Where's the Daily Ping rule book?

If you were a real geek, you'd have a spreadsheet preloaded with all the stuff usually buy, sorted by aisle for the store of your choice.

Not that I know anybody like that...

Actually, Chris, my mom has done that for years! (Without the spreadsheet, but she's sorted her list by aisle.)

What is this then?

The Daily Ping is the web's finest compendium of toilet information and Oreo™® research. Too much? Okay, okay, it's a daily opinion column written by two friends. Did we mention we've been doing this for over ten years? Tell me more!
