Comma Splices

By traveling to and from work on the train, I am exposed to a lot of advertisements. And more and more of them lately have featured comma splices… so many, in fact, that I wonder if it’s the next opps.

Now, not every comma splice is evil and wrong but there have been several I’ve noticed; most recently, it was in a very large ad for Corner Bakery: “Be picky about your panini, we are.” Ooof. I’ve also seen it on water bottles, just like this chap did.

Watch for them, they’re out there.

“One person can save trees, together we can save forests.”

Would a semicolon kill ’em?

What is this then?
