Stupid bowling rules

A friend was telling me that an alley he frequents (part of this chain) recently sent a note out telling bowlers that they’re not allowed to bring their own bowling balls to the lanes. “Our machinery can’t handle them, so it’ll ruin your ball or our machines,” they said.

If you’re a bowling alley–particularly one that charges as much as they do and has giant TVs hanging over each set of pins–I think you can try to get equipment that will, you know, handle bowling balls. I have to admit that this was the first time I was made aware that there’s actually machinery one can buy for a bowling alley that only works with certain balls.

Straight goofiness.
