Best Day for Snow

Chicago got hit by a pretty nice snow last night. While it was all coming down, my first thought was, “Wow – this is the best day for snow, Friday night into Saturday.” I stand by my assessment.

What do you think? What’s the best day and time of day for a big snow?

Any day on which I do not have to work is a great day for snow. We are expecting 10 to 15 inches here and I still have to drive 40 miles to work!

For someone with kids, snow on the weekend would definitely be the best, especially for working parents.

We got a total of 7" or so last night and are getting lake effect snow as I type. We're thinking a foot or so and I'm thinking that Friday night into Saturday, in general, is a good snow day.

I am right there with you Paul on snowing friday into saturday for commuting anywhere. But had this happened during the week, none of my students would have shown up and I would have had time to do all the stuff in classroom I never seem to find time to do. (like disinfecting every toy and desk and chair and well pretty much the whole room)

(like disinfecting every toy and desk and chair that anyone has touched) Clorox wipes and Lysol are a god-sends in a classroom full of germs

Well... If I can get out of going to school then go for it. Snow is never a bad thing. If you think about it the only time it is really clean outside is when there is crisp white snow outside on the ground. Also, Snow is a great way to bet revenge on those people who are conceited by well.... throwing multiple snow balls at their head. So, Let it SNOW!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting tidbit from Amish country: the Amish do indeed pay attention to the forecasts, because they almost always fertilize before it snows. So the best time for it to snow for them is any day but Sunday. Unless they can do all the work on Saturday.

The best snow would be really deep, but it was afraid od driveways and sidewalks so it piled on top of school busses instead.

I would rather it fall at night after everyone's off the road and stop with enough time for the road crews to clean it up before the morning commute. If it's going to fall anyway, then I'd rather have enough fall early in the morning that schools and offices are closed before anyone (mainly me) gets on the road. I'd rather big traffic killing snows not fall on the weekend since I have precious little opportunity to actually run errands at all, and they must be done on the weekend. This weekend sucked.
