This morning I read about Ben & Jerry’s new room spray. Yes, room spray. Having lived above an ice cream shoppe for a year I can tell you: waffle cones do smell fantastic.
But it got me to thinking just how far this whole scent and flavor technology has come. Think about it: there are thousands of varieties of candles, hundreds of varieties of air fresheners, and room spray that smells like food. (And, of course, “new car smell”.)
Something that would be quite cool would be the ability to get a room spray based on your scent memory. You know what I mean, right? We’ve all got some smells tucked away in our brains that bring back positive memories. I can imagine it’s only a matter of time before we’re able to customize scents to match our memories – and, just like music, relive those memories over and over. Just head over to Target, stop in the ScentLounge™, and walk out with a digital scent file usable on any computer or portable device and a vial of room spray.
And it’ll work on your iPod. You know it will.
